Pre-Apprenticeship Readiness Program

This project aims to remove barriers and obstacles, address the challenges and meet the unique needs of the Matawa First Nations people to pursue education, skills development and apprenticeship. The project will open the pathways for its members to be ready to work, to sustain meaningful and gainful employment.

The objectives of this project includes:

  • Removing barriers and obstacles so its First Nation members can be ready for employment opportunities and overcome challenges in order to sustain their employment
  • Increasing number of skilled trade workers and journey persons among Matawa First Nations communities
  • Reducing the labour market gaps by collaborating with employers to identify recruitment needs and required skills
  • Connecting Indigenous job seekers to potential employers
